Return to Chapter Five.

Epilogue

The world was filled with fairy tale solutions. They appeared like magic, and like magic, they came with a hidden price.

Che started to think he understood Arrivrealm, an almost disturbing thought. Of course, his species was still integrating, still resisting the siren call of easy solutions. They had not earned it, they thought. But Che had been across the multiverse, and understood that he received, from the moment he was born, things that he had not earned.

Perhaps he was wrong.

Perhaps he was greedy.

Perhaps the future really was far too generic. But that never bothered him. If things got too civilized, there was always the rest of the multiverse. He could disappear and return with a story, a souvenir and, occasionally, a new scar.

He didn’t often tell those stories, granted. The souvenirs simply went on his shelf. The scars, however, were cherished.
